I can't really remember a time when I haven't made pictures although they didn't always take the form of paintings. In the 1990s I started painting for exhibition and sale in a style more watercolour than anything else, using silk paints on paper.
After a hiatus of almost 14 years, during which I had a crafts business, I once again wield my paintbrush, this time in acrylics on canvas and (more recently) on board. Flowers remain a favourite motif but I also enjoy themes with a spiritual essence and am starting to experiment with a more abstract and expressionist style. Largely self-taught I am very privileged these days to have experienced Pretoria artists Mimi van der Merwe and Michael Heyns as mentors and advisors!
Since returning to painting, I have participated in a number of group exhibitions at The Gallery at Duncan Yard in Pretoria and Sanmart in Midrand. I have also had works selected for the past four annual Art Alive exhibitions at WHPS in Pretoria. In September 2009, I participated in a three women show with artists Bertha Grond and Corli Slabbert at Art on Karoo in Pretoria.
I currently have works hanging at Die Kunshuis art gallery in Clanwilliam and am working towards an exhibition called "Three" in March 2011.
